Partnership agreement with the Brazilian Ministry of Environment and Climate Change

In July of 2025, we had the honor of presenting a new historic partnership agreement with the Brazilian Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. This is a great step forward on the path for a greener future.

The Danish Cultural Institute (ICD) and the Brazilian government signs historic partnership agreement regarding environmental education.

The Danish Cultural Institute (ICD) and the Brazilian Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MMA) celebrated an important milestone in international cooperation: with the signing of a Technical Cooperation Agreement aimed at strengthening environmental education and promoting social and environmental responsibility.
For the first time in its history, the Institute has signed a technical cooperation agreement with the Federal Government of Brazil. The agreement focuses on strengthening environmental education in Brazil and developing educational materials related to the PoN initiative, which promotes the engagement of young people, communities, and citizens in sustainable and climate-conscious practices. According to Anders Hentze, Director of the Danish Cultural Institute in São Paulo, the partnership represents “an essential step towards strengthening the exchange of knowledge between Brazil and Denmark, with a focus on education, awareness, and environmental and climate engagement.

The agreement focuses on three main areas:
– Environmental education and pedagogical practices that bridge the gap between theory and action
– Citizenship and social and environmental responsibility, encouraging a culture of sustainability
– Youth and communities, strengthening local leadership and intercultural dialogue

Marcos Sorrentino and Anders Hentze

We would like to acknowledge and thank Marcos Sorrentino, Director of the Department of Environmental Education and Citizenship at the Ministry of the Environment (MMA), for his trust and commitment in building this collaboration. We would also like to thank the Danish Ambassador to Brazil, Eva Bisgaard Pedersen, for her invaluable support and coordination, which were essential in bringing the agreement to fruition.

A Partnership for a Greener Future

This partnership between the two institutions symbolizes a shared commitment to a greener and more sustainable future. We believe this agreement will foster long-term initiatives and help shape new generations that are environmentally conscious and socially responsible.

We look forward to working together to make a positive green impact.
